If I stop and think about it, the common answer would be, do as you are expected to, act as you have been taught, and do what is best for you and those around you. But let me tell you, I don’t completely agree.
I believe being mindful is enjoying every minute of the day. It’s doing new things often, finding new places to go, new meals to eat, meeting new people, and most of all, challenging yourself every day to exceed your normal.
It may seem as if you are being selfish. Well, let me tell you, it is being selfish, and that’s okay. Thinking about you is reasonable, it’s fair, and it’s right.
Life is short. If we’re going to live half or more of our lives pleasing others, we will never become the person we want to be. We may never fully develop our abilities, our likes, our dislikes and we’ll never be able to understand our fears.
I think being mindful about my life is knowing who I am, knowing what I want, and believing I can do everything I set my mind to do.
I expect a lot from me, not because of what people think, but because I know I am capable. Everything is difficult the first time, but once I learn how to do it, it will be easy.
So, be mindful about your past, about what and why you are here, about your present and where you are, and about your future and where you want to be. Reflecting on these questions will help you to understand how to care for your own life.
Let me finish by saying: don’t be afraid. We were all once afraid, but we’re still here, so make it worthwhile!
